Retro-active to all Existing Customers NOW

Existing customers should notice the disk space already allocated to their account.

Use the following list to determine how much space was added to your account:

Linode 64 – An additional 1024 MB (1 GB)
Linode 96 – An additional 1536 MB (1.5 GB)
Linode 128 – An additional 2048 MB (2 GB)

Annual Payments

Customers who pay annually also receive an additional 50% disk space on top of the new standard. Please fill out a support ticket if you’d like to switch to annual payments.

Instructions

To take advantage of the extra space, you have a choice of:

Resizing your existing filesystem to occupy the new space

Shutdown your Linode

Members -> Disk Images -> Click on your root filesystem -> Enter in new size, and Save Changes

Boot your Linode

Creating new empty disk images

Members -> Disk Images, scroll down to “Create an Empty Disk Image”

Enter a label (for example: “disk2”)

Enter in the size (use the “Storage Summary” box in the upper-right corner)

Choose “ext3” for filesystem type, and Create Disk

Members -> Configurations -> Click on your config

Add your new “disk2” to an open /dev/ubd? slot. Save

Reboot your Linode

Log into your Linode, and as root: “mount /dev/ubd[insert device letter here] /path/to/mountpoint” where path/to/mountpoint is an existing directory

Deploying more Linux Installations

Why, just use the Distro Wizard! Experiment with a new distro or something :-)

Thank you for your business! Enjoy!

  1. And the cmr appears to be increased as well.

The increase came just in time as well.

  2. you the man chris 🙂

  3. i thought you add space for me by mistake, that’s why i come back and check, thanks Chris 😀

  4. Chris,

Just a note that the chart under “Retro-active to all Existing Customers NOW” is incorrect…

The additional space for a Linode 96 should be 1536MB, not 2304MB (2304 is the additional space an annual subscriber would get)

The other Linodes are probably listed wrong too, but I don’t know…

Thanks for that — fixed it.

  11. Thank you

  12. Thank you for the gift of space, Chris. The fact that you made the new default drive space allocations retroactive is just another indication of your dedication to your (very appreciative) customer base. Have a great day 😀 .

  13. Cheers! caker++

  14. Chris, your timing is impeccable. I’ve spent the last couple of days combing through my list of RPMs trying to find some to remove. After hosting e-mail for, count ’em, three people for about six months, my mail partition (1GB) is getting dangerously full. You just solved a big problem for me. How we gathered so much mail in six months, I have no idea. At least now I won’t have to worry until later.

    Thanks Chris. You rock!

  15. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, woo-hoo!

  19. Misunderstood the first post. Thought the old standard had been 3GB. Sorry, thanks!

  20. I haven’t gotten the increase yet either. I double-checked, it says 2048MB.

Hrm, I think that’s a bug — it didn’t update you because of the gap in the invoices your account has (which also was my mistake, I might mention). Anyway — check again, please?

  22. Beautiful. Thanks, Chris. I filled out a support ticket for this, but it probably got lost in the shuffle with the other matter.

  23. Great news.

I need to do an upgrade to Mysql 4 & this is just what I want . 😆
