Custom “root=” kernel param

Linode.com version 1.0.55 contains the ability to specify a custom "root" kernel param in your Linode Configuration Profile. With the root= kernel param, you can specify an alternate block device. This is useful for (but not limited to) root LVM setups.
Valid characters are A-Z, 0-9, _ and /
